Joe & Mike Suchcicki

Pensacola, Florida

What Funko lines do you collect? How many pieces are in your collection?

Joe:
My Funko collection is mostly Pop!s, which I began collecting along with my dad, Mike. My collection covers animé, famous villains, arch-nemeses (Aquaman vs. Black Manta, Spider-Man vs. Dr. Octopus, etc.) and the weird and offbeat stuff like rainbow Batmen, Impopsters, etc.

Mike:
I collect mostly Pop!s, but also have plenty of of other items, such as Rock Candy, mugs, t-shirts, keychains, and collector pins and patches. So far there are about 150-200 Pop!s in my collection.

How long have you been a collector?

We've both been collecting for about two years.

What are your favorite fandoms?

Mike:
I love superhero movies and TV shows, but also certain science fiction properties, including Star Trek and Star Wars.

Joe:
Animé, gaming, comics, superhero TV shows and movies.

What was your first Funko item?

Joe:
Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon and Judge Dredd.

Mike:
I had told myself that I wasn't going to begin another collection, but then Joe gave me a '66 Batman Pop! and Batmobile as a gift. Of course, I had to get the other Batman '66 Pop!s, and then my fanaticism blossomed from there.

What is your favorite Funko piece in your collection?

Mike:
My favorite is a toss-up between the Judge Dredd and Voltron Pop!s, although I have a soft spot for my Orphan Black Clone Club (Sarah, Helena, Cosima and Allison).

Joe:
Swamp Thing Pop!

Tell us your favorite Funko story!

Joe:
My dad and I like to do what we call "making the rounds" of local Funko retailers. We don't do a lot of online buying; it's more fun to track things down in the stores. One day, when out on a shopping trip, on a whim I stopped in at Barnes & Noble and found a Batman chase figure, a prized discovery.

Mike:
Of course, it's fun for a father to share a hobby with his son, but I never expected that two grown men would share a passion for collecting four-inch vinyl figures. But my son Joe and I make regular visits to our local Funko retailers, what we call "making the rounds," looking for new items in our favorite genres. Joe tends to go for the rogues gallery figures, the villains and the monsters, while I like the superheroes and the good guys. We help each other with our collections, keeping an eye out for treasures and coveted items. I'm a big Batman fan, and Joe was kind enough to gift me a Batman chase figure he found by accident at a local book store.
