In our ongoing effort to acknowledge and thank our Funko Family for their support, we are highlighting Jon Bova as January's Funatic of the Month. Please give a warm welcome to Jon!

When and how did you first learn about Funko? Did you start collecting right away or did it develop over time?

"I met one of my deaf friends, Brandon Carmedy, at my very first Comic Con at ECCC 2017 and I was wondering what he was waiting in line for. He said he was waiting in line to get the Funko exclusive so I joined him. After I bought the Pop! my collection started slow until now, I've started to collect more and more. It's been crazy living in trailer for 4 years. I am looking forward the new place soon to have my Funko room."

Why are you a Funatic? What does Funko Family mean to you?

"I am part of Funko Boards, Deaf Funko Group and Local group. I'm passionate about collecting and being a part of the Funko Family. I learned a lot about Funko after my first time being in local group and getting to know other Funatics."

What Funko lines and fandom(s) do you collect?

"I collect Pop!, Dorbz, Mystery Mini, Paka Paka, Protos, Pop! Pez, Pop! Pins, and Funko Soda. I was gonna start collecting Wobblers but it's gonna take time. The main themes I collect is television, video games, and Freddy Funko."

Do you have favorite fandom(s) that hold special meaning to you?

"Yes, video games are my thing. I love to play Five Night at Freddy's, it's my favorite game. I even have the Five Nights at Freddy's Pop! collection though it's not complete yet. Now I see more and more FNAF products coming up and it's tempting to get them. That Pop! vinyl line is pretty awesome!"

What movie/show/video game/album/podcast are you currently watching/playing/listening to?

"I have been playing Call of Duty Mobile on my iPad most of the time. After I move this year, and hopefully have a desk, I can start playing on Steam. I'm looking forward to playing some horror games like Five Nights at Freddy's. I have been listening/watching other Funatics stream their game play and it's a lot of fun."

Is there anyone you share your fandom with?

"My family who do not collect Funko. They are happy with my hobby and collecting. It's really fun to collect."

What was your first Funko piece in your collection?

"Super Hero Kermit from ECCC 2017."

What do you love about Funko?

"Making a lot of new friends around the Funko community to help each other out. That will be Funko Family."

How do you display your collection? In box, out of box, shelves?

"I am an in box collector. Sometimes I take a Pop! out to photograph it or if I get the same Pop! twice I will set one out to display on my window and around the room."

What are some of your favorite Funko memories?

"Funko HQ Grand Opening on Aug 19, 2017 and finally met Kevin Smith who signed my Pops! It was so much fun seeing every Funatic and I love the place.

Attending my first SDCC/Funday in 2018 was a great experience. It was so much fun around there and was my first time travelling to California as well.

ECCC Fugitive Toys party in 2019 was one of the best. I won Toucan Sam from a powdered donut eating contest.

I have been attending a lot of Funko events at Funko HQ/FDO/Funko Hundo and group gathering as well. Hoping things go back to normal to have Con life back.

Best moment would be being part of the Funatic Shout Out on November's FunTV episode."

What motivated you to start photographing your collection and sharing the photos online?

"I post photos on my Instagram and Facebook for Funko Fashion Friday, contests, and even Funko Photo-A-Day challenges. It so much fun to participate. Pretty tough to win, but more fun to join."

What advice do you have for other Funatics taking photos of their collection?

"Just have fun and get an idea about a theme for your pictures. Just stay awesome!"

If licensing wasn't an issue, what would be a Pop! collection you'd like to see made?

"I would like to see Gillian's Island Pops! It's my absolute favorite TV show. I loved to watch it when I was a kid. I also would like to see more Freddy Funko added to the Pop! line. Freddy Funko as Jack in the Box, Ronald McDonald, and Ralph in Bunny Pajamas. I'd like to see Freddy Funko as any Five Nights at Freddy's character, and more Freddy Funko Vinyl Sodas."

Thank you again Jon, for your ongoing dedication and for taking the time to share details about your Funko experience with the Funko Family.
