Funko would not be the same without all of the wonderful Funatics that come together to help make up the Funko Family. To show our appreciation we're taking some time to introduce you to other Funatics in the community, and with that, please give a warm welcome to David Mebane.

When and how did you first learn about Funko? Did you start collecting right away or did it develop over time?

"I've been an avid toy collector, mostly horror-movie related, for 25 years. On one of my shopping trips, I found a Jason Voorhees Funko Pop! I collected mostly the horror genre Pops! at first."

When would you say you switched from being a collector to becoming a Funatic?

"I became a Funatic after Pops! became more accessible at the stores where I shop (Hot Topic, Target, etc.) and that is when I started collecting all genres and soon became obsessed."

What Funko lines and fandom(s) do you collect?

"I collect movies, TV, Pop! Rides, Star Wars, games, animation, etc. Basically, there is no genre I do not collect."

Do you have favorite fandom(s) that hold special meaning to you?

"The Jason Voorhees Pop! was the first Pop! I ever bought. Also, all of my signed Pops! hold special meaning because of my interaction with the actors, particularly those who have passed such as Scott Wilson (Herschel - The Walking Dead)."

Is there anyone you share your fandom(s) with?

"My girlfriend, Tammy, has been with me from the start."

What are the newest figures you've added to your collection?

"I average buying 20-30 Pops! a week. The most recent additions have been the Art Series Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Kramer (Seinfeld), Deadpool in Cake (7Eleven), The Atom (WonderCon), King Kong (10 inch), and Godzilla (10 inch)."

Are there any figures that you are on the hunt for but haven't been able to collect yet?

"My biggest Pop! regret is not buying Beavis & Butthead when I had the chance."

Is there a particular Funko art or figure style that you enjoy

"I love all variants as in flocked and black light, but the glow-in-the-dark Pops! are by far my favorites."

How do you display your collection? In box, out of box, a mix of the two?

"All 8000+ of my Pops! are still in their original boxes."

Are there any particular places you like to look for new Pops! to add to your collection?

"I visit a lot of places to find new Pops! including Funko Shop, Tall Man Comics, Hot Topic, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, Target, Walmart, Walgreens, GameStop, Box Lunch, FYE, CM Games, Amazon, and a local used book/DVD/collectibles store called McKay."

Which are some of your favorite signed figures?

"Of all my signed Pops!, the ones that mean the most to me are those signed by Scott Wilson (Herschel-The Walking Dead), Steve Dash (Baghead Jason), and Sid Haig (Captain Spaulding) who are no longer with us."

How do you organize your collection and track which ones you have?

"I keep a weekly written log of all Pops! added to my collection. Pops! are stored along the walls of what used to be my bedroom."

Is there anything not made by Funko that you collect: for example, things like vinyl records or movie memorabilia?

"I have over 5000 pieces of horror-movie related items such as action figures and art. I also have over 5000 VHS/DVDs."

What movie/show are you currently watching that you'd recommend others try?

"I am currently watching the TV shows Debris and Mayans."

What do you love about Funko?

"I'm a pop culture collector and Funko covers it all."

What's your favorite Funko memory?

"I still remember getting chills when my Breaking Bad set arrived.

Also, the feeling of accomplishment after waiting in line for hours to get my Pops! signed."

Do you share photos of your collection on social media?

"No, I am not on social media."

If licensing wasn't a limiting factor, what would be a Pop! Collection you'd like to see made?

"King of the Hill, Field of Dreams, Fringe, Leslie Vernon, more Family Guy, and more Lost."

Thank you again David, for taking the time to share details about your Funko experience and collection with the Funko Family.
