Wonk! Ptow! Zoooom! We’re leveling up our superpowers for this month’s My First Funko post. Sturdy shield? Check. Winged helmet? Check. Looks like we’re ready to go. Let’s meet a Funko employee whose first collectible is a stellar marvel.

What is your name and job title at Funko?

Elizabeth Heideger, Utility Artist

What is your first Funko collectible, and where do you display it?

My first Funko collectible is the first Captain America Funko POP! He resides at the top and center of my Funko POP! wall in my home.

Is there a story or memory behind your first Funko collectible?

I was at Pike Place Market my freshman or sophomore year of high school and found the comic book store downstairs. They had this big wall of these little weird square-headed figures. Being the massive fan of Marvel that I am, specifically Captain America at the time, and seeing this Captain America Funko POP!, I had to have it. I only bought the one that first time, but after seeing that giant wall of POP!s, every time I went back, I had to get more and more.

How does this collectible inspire your work?

This POP! has inspired my work so much because it showed me at a young age the different ways to express what you like and what you are a fan of. Now I get to do that every day with my work!

When I first got this Captain America Funko POP! at age 14, I never would have thought I would be making them myself one day. I was simply excited to have another thing to show how cool of a nerd I was.

Now It's Your Turn!
